Street dogs and pups born outside of a human home don't know the comfort and warmth of a human's touch the same way that privileged good boys and good girls do. Accustomed to the harsh outside world, ramshackle shelters, opportunistic meals, and questionable water sources, street dogs grow tough and burly on the outside, but they're still the soft-centered furbabies we know and love on the inside.
How can you get a street dog to let its guard down? Love and patience, of course.
Not every human being is destined for the hard work of converting a street dog to an indoor sleeper, but the kindhearted nature and compassionate ways of some can change a dog's entire outlook on hoomanity. Once a dog can learn to trust the bald, bipedal humans of the world, their lives are forever changed. Instead of sleeping behind a dumpster, they can sleep on a soft, plush bed. Instead of eating garbage and rummaging for scraps, they get two reliable meals per day, sometimes with a chance of treats and snacks in between. Instead of roaming the world without a purpose, street dogs who are given a home are also given a purpose.
Finally, this dog gets the chance at a dog's fulfilled life. After 11 days off the street and in his adopted forever home, this street dog learned that he could trust his new hooman. All it took was a little time, a warm bed to sleep in, and a few rounds of boiled chicken chunks to draw out his soft side. There's a lot more where that came from, buddy!
Soon, this doggo will get to run around the yard, play fetch, and wag his tail like never before.
Because once he's learned he can live side-by-side with his favorite human, he'll finally feel like he's safe, warm, pawtected, and completely utterly loved. Isn't that what we all want at the end of the day? A tasty meal, a friendly companion, and a warm bed to sleep in. Life is about to get really good, my friend.
